Getting caught

If you could do something without getting caught, would you do it anyway? Why or why not?

  1. If I could do something without getting caught I would not do it because although I may not get caught the repercussions on my conscious would be all the repercussion I would need to feel guilty.

  2. Yes, I would definitely do anything if I didn't get caught. The only reason I don't do certain things is because I am afraid of getting caught or getting in trouble. If there was no one to get you caught or get you in trouble, so the possibilities would be endless. Everyone has certain things they would love to do but are to scared to do it, but if there was no one who could get mad at you, then why not do what you have always want to. Especially if there is only a small amount of time I couldn't get caught doing something, I think I would go a little crazy and it would definitely be worth it.

  3. This is a very difficult question to think about, however I think I would probably do it in this situation. I feel like I probably wouldn't do anything that terrible anyway, however if given this opportunity, I think I might as well take it if I will not get caught. Everyone has something that they've probably always wanted to do, but their parents may be against it. Therefore, I think most people would probably do something if they wouldn't get caught, and I put myself in this group.

  4. If I could do something without getting caught, I wouldn't do it. What you do when no one is watching is a reflection of who you really are, much more so than what you do when all eyes are on you.

  5. It would depend a lot on the something that I could do but if it was nothing to bad then I would probably do it. But if it was something serious then I would not do it. Either way when I did something with out getting caught I would know I did it and I would feel guilty. Also even though I would not get caught there could still be other consequences that I do not want to deal with.

  6. If I could do something without getting caught,I probably would take that opportunity. I definitely wouldn't do something awful that would effect society negatively but I would love to be able to do things like come home after curfew, or be late to school. This wouldn't be necessarily a negative thing. Also, getting caught isn't always the enemy; sometimes it's your conscience that is the one that constantly tortures you.

  7. I think it depends on what exactly the "thing" is. If it is something that I morally do not see a problem with but would most likely get in trouble if I was caught doing it, then I would probably do it since I wouldn't feel guilty about my actions. If my actions are something that I feel is wrong I would not do it even if I could get away with it since my actions would upset me.

  9. I think that it depends on the situation. If I could shoplift without getting caught I would not do it because I would have a guilty conscience knowing that I did something bad. However, as a teenager we like to rebel against our parents somtimes and if I could stay out past curfew in the summer without getting caught I would.

  10. Yes I would do it. They whole reason why petty crimes aren't committed are because you can run the risk of getting caught. If I was unable to get caught then why wouldn't I do it? Judge me all you want but if I had no idea of repercussions then whatever I do would not be "wrong" to me. However, there are some exceptions. I would not commit a crime that would harm others like murder. If there was a Ferrari laying around though i would more than likely steal it.

  11. Depending on my motives, I would easily do something I shouldn't if I knew I wouldn't get caught. There is that drive in almost everyone, always wanting to do something but too afraid to commit to it if they have to suffer the consequences. Never would I steal, even if it is just a souvenir to being an expensive diamond necklace, nor do anything at all obviously selfish and wrong. Yet in cases which I could maybe travel to somewhere I've always wanted to go or skydive over beautiful plains, I would do it. It is not always about receiving materials or irresponsible fun that could get you in trouble, but rather, for me, the things I have always wanted to do but never could because of an age limit or strict beliefs. Overall, what I venture for is adventure, not luxury.

  12. If there was anything I could do without getting caught, I would definitely do it. Why wouldn't you? I guess for most people they fallow the rules and thats great but you need to break the law or do something devious to live a little. For me I consider every possible consequence that could happen but I like to push my chances and other boundaries. Now, this might not be the smartest logic but at least im enjoying life as it is.

  13. I believe that it would depend on the severity of the situation. Even though I could not be caught I would still know what I had done and my inner conscious would torment me for doing the wrong thing. Every event in which I have done something wrong or something I'm not proud of before anyone even knows I confess to doing it. I do this because it is worse for me to know that I have done wrong and live with the guilt than tell the truth. If it was something silly like crashing a party or dingdong ditching someone it would be a different case but with a serious things I would have to think twice even if I wouldn't get caught

  14. Even though the option is there to do something with out getting caught, I would not use that option. In some situations this would key to my success to not get caught but I would feel guilty since I unfairly achieved my goals. Failure would be a better option than to cheat to gain success.

  15. I would decide to take the opportunity and do something without getting caught. If it's a once and a lifetime chance to not get in trouble, why wouldn't someone want to take the opportunity? I think it would be really cool to do something without getting punished at all.

  16. If I could do something and not get caught I would borrow a Ferrari Diablo and speed around for a day and then return the car without them knowing. It would be harmless and no one would get hurt but I would be able to have fun and go very fast even for just one day. As long as I feel there is no moraly worng doing then I would absolutley do anything without getting caught.

  17. If I could do something with out getting caught I would because somethings I would do is speed and not do homework and easy stuff that wouldn't have a effect on my life.

  18. In the US justice system there are a lot of good justifications and then there are a lot of flawed aspects of the judicial system. I believe that when you commit an illegal act, you are not actually breaking the law unless you get caught. If I wanted to go skydiving, I would do it but I would not want my parents to know. If my parents knew that I was going skydiving, they would say NO that's dangerous. It is the same thing, to my parents i am wronging them by skydiving, but if I had never told them in the first place they wouldn't have ever knows, and I would have gone skydiving anyway. The thing is, for every action there is a consequence that happens. It may not always be a good or bad consequence, but everything happens for a reason that may not always be defined. I believe You're not doing anything wrong unless you get caught, therefore I would venture into many things if I knew i wasn't going to get caught.

  19. It is completely dependent upon what the action is, if it is something that is fun or not harmful to myself or other i would most likely do it. If it was something that was harmful then of course i would not do it, it is a matter of ethics completely, not law.

  20. If the opportunity a raised to do something without being caught I may or may not do it. It all depends on what the repercussions were in the long run and if my morals allow it or not. I can not say at this time if I would do it.

  21. A common saying is, "it's only legal if you get caught", and because of this, many people live by the idea that if one had no consequences, then they would act upon impulse and do many other things that they probably shouldn't. For me, I am just like any other, if a consequence is not present I am much more likely to actually do the activity in question. Without the consequences, the risk factor is taken out the situation, making it more acceptable.

  22. I think that in depends on the situation. I believe thats kind of what adulthood is like, when you can be out as late as you want and do different things without your parents giving you a curfew and getting punished. I think that if I wanted to do something that I agreed with and believed in then yes I would do it knowing I wouldn't get caught, but if it was something that I knew was a bad choice and knew would in the end hurt me, then I wouldn't.

  23. If I could do something without getting caught I would do it as long as it is not harmful to anyone else. I would not steal, cheat, or do anything that goes against my morals and beliefs. However, if I had the opportunity to do something fun or important that is not harmful to me or anyone else, then I would most likely do it.

  24. If I had the chance to do something without getting caught, I would definitely do it. That's not to say I would do something as severe as killing someone, but I would definitely be tempted by other things. For example, theft. If I knew there was no way I would get caught, I would probably become a kleptomaniac and steal all sorts of things. I think that's the only reason there isn't theft all the time, because people are too scared of the consequences. But if there were no consequences, I would bet cars would be stolen and banks would be robbed almost every minute.

  26. If I had the chance to do something without getting caught, I most likely would, depending on what the action is. Often times we restrict ourselves from doing things, because we feel that there is a possiblity of getting caught doing it, and get into trouble. It would be cool getting away with something we would normally get in trouble for doing. The main reason that we don't do certain things is because we have a fear of getting caught. I think it is safe to say that almost all of us would do many things without getting caught if we had the chance, because we are constantly stopping ourselves from doing things that present the possibility of us getting caught or getting into trouble.

  27. If I had the chance to do something without getting caught, I think I would depending on the "something". If it was something horrible like murder, I wouldn't do it obviously but if it was something like getting away with a small lie I probably would because there wouldn't be much harm in doing so.
