This society is so based on scientific progress but have they really achieved any real progress?

  1. The have achieved tremendous amount of progress. They are at the point where they can have children outside of the womb, a scientific miracle. In a scientific manner the success is huge but in a moral sense the success is minuscule.

  2. i completely agree with CarolineG, when she states that the science part of the story is quite impressive. The advances in science this society has made is incredible. Also this is a Utopian society, if people couldlive in this world where their is no war, destruction, hatred, misery, then why wouldnt you want to live in this society. So in that sense they have made progress. However, they have not achieved any progress in what is right and wrong, what is moral and immoral. They have failed to userstand the difference between a controlling figure and extreme comunism.

  3. Scientifically they have made huge progress because they can make humans in a lab and make them any way they want. Outside of the lab they have not made much progress because people have lost there individuality and morals. Along with that people can not think what they want, practice religion, or have relationships of any kind. This does not show any progress in my opinion because they have lost what it is like to have a dream or individual thoughts and opinions.

  4. The Medical technology is rather intriguing, just because this society has been able to genetically manipulate humans to do whatever they wish to do and think. The technology that is described in Brave New World is so far advanced that it makes the reading fascinating to comprehend. With all this advancement though they haven't proceeded any progress, As Colton phrased it, in what is moral and immoral, and the rights and wrongs in the conditioning process, which takes away human rights.
